Explore the Gaslamp Quarter & East Village Area Near Our Hotel

Many of our favorite things to do in San Diego are right here in the Gaslamp District. Read on for an area guide that will have you enjoying the best shopping, dining, nightlife and local events in no time. This charming and vibrant part of the city is enjoyably walkable and filled to the brim with spots you won't want to miss.

The Quartyard

East Village’s Quartyard is an urban park constructed from repurposed shipping containers. It was once a vacant lot but is now an eco-friendly outdoor community space that is home to a coffee shop, restaurant, dog park, beer garden, music venue, and an ever-changing assortment of food trucks. This is a great place to experience life like a local.

Gaslamp Shopping: as Unique as You Are

We all know the stuff you can find at the usual big box stores, but this is a completely different scene. If places like Boomshop of Comics, Bike Revolution, and Heavenly Couture pique your interest, we've got more where these came from. A lot more. Whether you're into meandering through several blocks to poke around in unique boutiques or you're more the "power shopper" type, you'll find plenty to please you among our Gaslamp shops and galleries.

Dining Delectably near Hotel Indigo San Diego Gaslamp Quarter

You can never tell what will whet the appetite, and whether you're hungry for brunch, a romantic dinner, or a late dessert, you won't be disappointed in the Gaslamp District's offerings. Forget average fare and get ready to taste the real San Diego with local favorites. Get a stellar grass-fed burger until 3 a.m. and "people watch" at the Burger Lounge, take chocolate to an entirely new level at Chocolat, or elevate your palate a few notches at the Ocean Room Oyster Bar, perfect for date night. Start your day with a substantial breakfast at San Diego’s first European cafe, Cafe Chloe, or savor brick-oven pizzas and craft beers in an industrial-lounge setting at Basic, which is anything but. Got a taste for something else? Just ask - we're always glad to give a local's recommendation!

Stay Up Late, You Can Always Sleep in Tomorrow...

The Gaslamp District always has a party in progress, so be sure to pack your dancing shoes and get ready for a night out you won't forget. Grab a pint of local craft brews or sip locally made bourbons at Barley Mash, one of our favorites. Mix it up at FLUXX, located at 4th Avenue, for a fun experience that glows with energy. OMNIA San Diego is the newest nightlife destination that will offer you a fun, upscale experience.

East Village may be more business minded, but there are still plenty of nightlife options to enjoy here. Mission Brewery should definitely be a stop on the list, as they offer a number of seasonal and flagship beers in a historic 1894 building. Altitude Sky Lounge is a great spot for sipping cocktails under the night sky, but it can’t beat the convenience of our very own Level 9 Rooftop Bar.
